MassChannel is a high reliability broadcast playout appliance for broadcast transmission applications. Simply put, it stores file-based content and decodes to SDI for playout video with frame accuracy as directed by the playlist. MassChannel expands your playout capabilities and makes more efficient use of existing digital libraries and bandwidth.

Simple, Flexible and Automatic
Deliver Content to MassChannel in a number of ways:

• Make your MPEG2 based content available to MassChannel by storing it directly in its 1 to 5 TB of configured local storage
• External systems can also push content onto the Server via MassChannel’s FTP service, or through SMB.
• MassChannel can also be configured to gather digital content from MassStore environments. Operators create playlists using a live MassStore inventory and then MassChannel requests the content for playout on a timely basis. MassChannel allows operators to schedule any content in the MassStore library, regardless of format, fully automating the retrieval of the content and schedules using its own internal inventory and scheduling services.

Use Any Format
The MassTrans-It™ engine automatically transcodes content to virtually any format during the transfer process to the MassChannel. The content in your library doesn’t have to be a particular format because automated; on-the-fly transcoding seamlessly insures its compatibility.

Unlimited Video Storage
MassStore integration means unlimited video storage. Ingest MPEG content directly to MassChannel’s local storage for playout. MassChannel will also locate scheduled content in the archive and retrieve it.

Operators can interact directly with the MassChannel GUI to create playlists, and then append or insert these into the running playlist.

Content to air for the playlist is checked and immediately played from the local cache or copied from the remote location to be played.

MassChannel Protects Your Air
Missing content is automatically managed and replaced by ‘evergreen’ content (prescribed content), ensuring that your channel remains on-the-air in the case of late arriving content. Evergreen inventory is updatable at any time.

Remote Verification
MassChannel provides a simple HTML based playlist report that is updated every 60 seconds, that dynamically reflects what is in the schedule. Operators use this to verify that the playlist is consistent with the expected broadcast schedule. Couple MassChannel with MassLogger™ compliance recording and you have complete, comprehensive remote verification.

Enhanced Security Features
MassChannel’s enhanced security is a complete and versatile administrative control for every user accessing the MassChannel system. By defining specific resources and attributes within the system, each user’s rights are customized to meet only the requirements needed to perform their tasks. Operators are not allowed to change the configuration, and a ‘viewer’ will not be allowed to change the playlist. Lockable playlists prevent unintended changes to the playlist.
